The Ministry of Bible Teaching -Growth and the Grace of God

Training Sharing

We started our Bible Teaching Training in 2002. Our goal for the next 10 years is to see more than half of 2000 cities in China establish the ministry of Bible Teaching. This is our fourth year in this ministry and we have seen God's great work. We have seen churches growing from places at ground zero to churches at the center of Bible Teaching. We have also seen the growth of the burdens of the Sunday school workers, and all the children having a chance to learn God's words from childhood. For all these, we are grateful to God. We hope you can join us in sharing this ministry's joy and blessings.

In June, the Sunday School Bible Teachers' Training was held in central China for three days. The students came from two districts. There were about 50 students, mostly sisters, and 7 or 8 brothers. During training, from the morning till 9 in the evening, all of them were very serious in their pursuit of knowledge. The curriculum included the importance of Sunday School, the qualification of teachers, the Bible verses teaching method, hymn singing training, how to play games, story
telling methods, how to start Sunday schools, Sunday school history, the definition of Sunday school, the technique of asking questions to encourage participation, class room management, and other topics.

In July, a nationwide "Timothy" training was held. Thirtyfive students came from eight provinces: Zhejiang, Guangxi, Hunan, Hebei, HeiLongJian, Liaoning, Shaanxi, and Gansu. These students had had previous Sunday school training, and had led training for other teachers. The Northeastern team again sent 3 main workers. In 2002, their church sent three sisters to attend the same training. When they went back, they started to build up the church, and developed a ministry in Bible Teaching
Training. Thanks be to God, their districts now have 39 cities that have ministries in Bible Teaching Training. In this year's training, the curriculum included the function of Sunday school, how to teach flexibly, marriage counseling, counseling children, the history of the Old Testament, how to prepare for children and youth Sunday school notes, how to improve teaching, a Bible study method for Sunday school teachers, the spiritual needs of modern day Sunday school teachers, understanding the
Holy Land, the Passover observance, aand other topics. The teachers, besides teaching the above curriculum, also stressed the need for the importance of correct Bible explanation, because the Bible
is the highest authority. The teachers' spirituality, radiating from their inner hearts, and their enthusiasm and serious attitude influenced and affected all the students.

In August, a Sunday school training was held in Hangzhou. There were 150 students. Most of them were college students, and some were master degree candidates. This group was younger. They were divided into lower and middle classes. The students were very diligent. They did not want to take breaks, but wouldn't leave until the teachers were too tired to teach. Please pray that this training will affect the surrounding churches, so that Sunday schools in the whole Hangzhou metropolitan area will root and grow.

Statistics

By the end of August 2005, there are 343 cities in 28 provinces that have started Bible Teaching Training, and 7,830 trained teachers. Only Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Guizhou and three provinces in XiZang have not provided records of Bible Teaching Training. Please pray for them.

Let us go to this unreached land together! Amen!
